Educators
Here in Logan County, our teachers are a valuable asset in the fight against the opiate abuse epidemic and drug addiction in general.
Why is this? Because stopping addiction before it starts, begins with arming our children with information and skills to resist drugs. Our children won’t be children forever and someday they’ll have to make a stand and a choice about who they will be and what kind of life they will live. So how do I as a teacher go about preparing my students for the future choice they should make against drug addiction? |

Children are trusting of adults and can be easily influenced. Being an educator gives you the upper hand already. All you have to do is seize the opportunity. Teach children to be confident and help them develop their inter-personal skills. Additionally help children to express their creativity.(1)
It is important as an educator to note the age and maturity of your students. Preparing curriculum suitable for children should be discussed with your administrators.
Here in Logan County, we have national programs such as the K.N.O.W. program, D.A.R.E., as well as the PERK Program started by Logan County C.O.R.E. Click to find out more about each program below.
